WHAT I TOLERATE

  • I tolerate stupidity when the opportunities to learn have been slim.
  • I tolerate rudeness seldom, if ever.
  • I tolerate gossip only when there is no escape.
  • I tolerate little white lies when they spare the feelings of others.
  • I tolerate guests late for dinner only if I like them a lot.
  • I tolerate unmade beds only if I have something more exciting to do.
  • I tolerate dishes in the sink only when I’ve started a new painting.
  • I tolerate dirt (soil) only when it produces beautiful flowers or food to eat.
  • I tolerate lies but regret the loss of trust.
  • I tolerate illness, knowing it will end sooner or later.
  • I tolerate stormy weather the same as illness.
  • I tolerate people and situations I don’t understand.
  • I tolerate those who disagree with me when they do so respectfully.
  • I tolerate carelessness in others more than in myself.
  • I tolerate problems I can’t solve and trivia questions I’m unable to answer.
  • I tolerate opportunity seekers unless they use others to get ahead.
  • I tolerate ants and mosquitoes and undisciplined pets.
  • I tolerate weak tea and coffee that’s lost its steam.
  • I tolerate appliances on the blink, leaf blowers and tree trimmers.
  • I tolerate the fact that this list is too long.
